I believe it’s because of one of 3 reasons. 1) they are sexist bastards. 2) they couldn’t think of an appropriate way to depict Radium. 3) because her discovery also lead to her death.

They honestly could have just had the icon of Radium on the periodic table done artistically, though, I agree with everything you said, Panda. But I think the fact that her discovery lead to her death in the end is the best part. Morbid, yes, but she learned so much about radiation itself that no one else could because of the threat of death. She threw caution to the wind to give us a well rounded knowledge of radiation in order to better protect ourselves in the future, and not suffer her demise. In the end, sure, she and her husband died of radiation overload, but they probably saved way more people by just taking the bull by the horns and doing some research. Also, I wonder if Tesla were to be electrocuted and died, if he wouldn’t have been included on this list. Mmmm … Also … I am greatly bothered … this isn’t based chronologically! Why post the dates so artistically if you won’t line them up in order! D:

Agreed…perhaps the people who posted this are just mysoginistic(sp) hipsters who thought she wasn’t a true pioneer and that the elemental symbol would be too mainstream. XD Either way, I agree with all that you said above, 100%
